Speech-language pathologists are experts in helping people with communication difficulties caused by disability, surgery, or developmental disorders. They're also essential in rehabilitating speech, language, cognitive communication, voice, and fluency disorders. This includes problems with understanding speech and speaking. They also evaluate and treat swallowing disorders resulting from stroke, brain injury, or other nervous system impairments.
