Our skilled midwives also provide well-women's care, including routine exams and health screenings, ensuring you maintain optimal health at every stage of life. We offer personalized contraceptive care, helping you choose the best options for your lifestyle and preferences. Our pre-conception counseling services support you in preparing for a healthy pregnancy, while our gynecological care addresses a wide range of reproductive health concerns. With a holistic approach, our midwifery care emphasizes compassionate, patient-centered support for all individuals.
Choosing a certified nurse midwife is an important part of your pregnancy experience. You can choose to have prenatal appointments with your midwife at one of our convenient Mary Washington Obstetrics & Gynecology practices, with locations in Spotsylvania and Stafford.

Mary Washington Healthcare’s Midwifery Program includes both inpatient and outpatient services. You'll receive continuous care from your midwife throughout your pregnancy, ensuring a seamless and supportive experience. You can choose to have your prenatal appointments at one of our convenient Mary Washington Obstetrics and Gynecology practices, located in Stafford or Spotsylvania.

When it's time to welcome your baby into the world, you’ll have access to our team of certified nurse midwives at Stafford Hospital, who are on call around the clock. Our midwives are committed to creating a safe, nurturing environment for your birth, respecting your birth plan and providing expert care for a low-risk, low-intervention birth experience. Our midwives focus on personalized, holistic care, addressing your physical, emotional, and mental well-being. They are trained to support a variety of birth preferences and are dedicated to making your birth experience as positive and empowering as possible.
While you may deliver with a midwife if it is medically appropriate, if you become high-risk during pregnancy or delivery, your care may be transferred to one of our experienced obstetricians to ensure the best outcomes for you and your baby. Stafford Hospital also partners with Children’s National to provide world-class neonatology care at our Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
