Endocrinology is the branch of medicine relating to the endocrine system, which controls hormones. Endocrinologists are specially trained physicians who diagnose gland-related diseases and conditions which can be complex and have hard-to-spot symptoms. The endocrinologist’s goal is to restore hormonal balance in the body.

Endocrinologists work to ensure that the different systems in the body communicate well with each other by correcting these hormonal imbalances. They perform a series of tests to understand the problem, determine the best treatment and help patients with lifestyle changes, when possible, that can improve their medical condition.

At Mary Washington Endocrinology, our physicians treat a variety of endocrine conditions in both outpatient and inpatient hospital settings. We also provide continuing care by seeing patients in Mary Washington Hospital and Stafford Hospital, in conjunction with Mary Washington Healthcare’s Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support Services.
