Minimally Invasive Surgery

Some people call it “Band Aid” surgery, but don’t let the informal nickname fool you. Minimally invasive surgery is becoming the standard of care for many surgical procedures in nearly all surgical specialties. In fact, in some cases it is replacing traditional surgery altogether. Using tiny tools through incisions as small as one inch, surgeons are able to perform major procedures that cause less trauma to the body. This translates into shorter recovery times, significantly less pain, better cosmetic results, and, most importantly, quicker return to normal activity.

Minimally invasive surgery is offered at both Mary Washington Hospital and Stafford Hospital. Stafford Hospital is a Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecological Surgery. Read more about COEMIG here.
