Julie Weathers, MSN,CNM

  • Accepting New Patients

Julie has been providing care to the local area as a Certified Nurse Midwife since 2004. She graduated summa cum laude from West Virginia University in 1992 with a bachelor of science in nursing. It was during her final semester that she was introduced to midwifery and knew that was her calling. Julie was a labor and delivery nurse in a small community hospital until she enrolled in the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing. She completed that program in 2004 and has been a full-scope midwife ever since in the greater Fredericksburg area.

Julie loves attending births and feels that assisting women who are delivering is a rewarding experience every single time. When asked, "How many babies have you delivered?", she will answer, "Two." (her two sons!) She has participated in a lot of births but she is adamant that she does not deliver babies—moms do!

Attending births is only a portion of what Julie has to offer her patients. Midwifery care is centered on listening to women whether they present for a first-time gynecology visit or want to discuss the ever-changing needs women face. Julie is happy to assist in a respectful and collaborative manner to develop a plan of care that will meet the needs of her patients.

Julie has been a preceptor to student midwives over the years and feels this is an important role in the development of midwifery practices like this one. She feels honored to be part of this midwifery team and hopes that it will provide care to the women in this area well into the future.

When not working Julie enjoys going places and doing things with family and friends.
