Anh Butz, MD, is a board-eligible physician in Obstetrics and Gynecology with experience providing comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care. Previously, Dr. Butz was an attending physician at Kaiser Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group, and worked at Elite Women’s Health, in Fredericksburg, VA, where she performed a broad scope of clinical duties, including office visits, labor and delivery, and surgeries.
Dr. Butz earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania. She completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Riverside Regional Medical Center. She holds a Master of Science in Bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania and a double Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Neuroscience from Yale University, graduating magna cum laude.
Dr. Butz is an active member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and has been recognized for her academic and clinical achievements, including the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine Residency Award for Excellence in Obstetrics. Her research has been published in respected journals, and she has presented at national conferences, further establishing her as a leader in both clinical care and scientific inquiry.

Dr. Anh Butz was very judgmental of my concerns. I am 16 weeks pregnant and still dealing with with nausea and vomiting. I voiced a concern that I worry when I vomit that the baby isn't getting nutrients and she said "since you are overweight and we're already overweight even before pregnancy, you can throw up your food but as long as you're hydrated and keep your prenatal down, the baby is fine" There are better ways to communicate this to patients. She even assumed I had diabetes and then checked my labs and said I was fine. She kept brushing off my concerns. My last doctor said I had a low lying placenta and I asked Dr. Butz if I can walk my dog again because I used to be active before I found out my placenta was low lying and she said yeah you should be more active. The weight you put on should come later not now so you should be active. I've met with several OBGYNs at Mary Washington and Dr. Anh Butz was very hard to talk to. I walked out of the office with tears. Other than that, the reception staff were very friendly.
