A Multidisciplinary Approach through Mary Washington Healthcare
Mary Washington Healthcare is dedicated to providing a high level of care
to patients throughout Virginia. One of the ways we do this is through
our exceptional cancer care program. The program takes a holistic approach
to our patients’ care, meaning that we make sure our patient benefits
from a strong support group, friendly and encouraging staff, and convenient
locations. Everything patients need is in one place, meaning less travel
time, less stress, and more time at home. We utilize the latest technology
and strive to raise the clinical profile of cancer programs.

One of the things that patients appreciate about our cancer care is our
multidisciplinary approach. We hold regular meetings with oncologists,
surgeons, radiologists, and other pertinent medical staff to discuss our
patients’ cases, their treatments, and make adjustments for their
future plan of care. This approach ensures that we benefit from the collaboration
of experience and knowledge to come up with a plan of care that is best
for our patient.
You are family
As a patient, we consider you and your family, our family. Whether you
have a traditional family or your loved ones are made up of non-relatives,
we provide important emotional support so that they may cope with the
impact cancer has on loved ones. This includes spouses, children, parents,
life partners and significant others, and close friends. We even have
a special program so that the family pet can visit during a hospital stay.
Chemotherapy & Other Infusions
We provide comfortable, spacious areas where patients go to receive chemotherapy
or other necessary infusions. Our patients benefit from one-on-one care,
refreshments, television, comfortable chairs, and optional, complementary
therapies! We strive to make these hospital visits as comfortable and
relaxing as possible for our patients

After a routine checkup, Pat visited an ENT for a nodule on her jaw. The
nodule turned out to be nothing, but it turned out she had lung cancer.
Before she could have surgery for the lung cancer, however, she also needed
to have TAVR surgery to repair her aortic valve. Pat wanted to share how
blessed she is to be here today, and how thankful she is to Drs. Maurer,
Sherwood, Cardone, and Chanda for the excellent care she received on her
journey to recovery.
