The Family Birth Place at Stafford Hospital
The Family Birth Place at Stafford Hospital is a state-of-the-art facility
with a community feel. Our staff provides a personalized birth experience
and the highest level of care with our 24/7 in-house OB hospitalists,
anesthesia providers, and pediatric hospitalists from Children’s
National Hospital. Members of the family, including the new baby, will
have the opportunity to stay in the same spacious room for the duration
of your visit.*
Our family-centered approach encourages bonding and time getting to know
your baby. Certified lactation consultants visit our new moms daily to
assist with personalized breastfeeding support.
Stafford Hospital has a 6-bed, Level II Nursery, also referred to as an
Intermediate Level Nursery (ILN). It is equipped with the latest neonatal
technology to provide care for infants who are delivered at 34 weeks or
later and weigh at least 3.3 pounds.
The ILN team can provide care for newborns that need extra medical attention
but aren’t sick enough to need critical care. This includes babies
born a few weeks early as well as those with intrauterine growth restriction/lower
than average birth weight, feeding difficulties, infections, and mild
breathing problems.
