Lower Dose CT Imaging Maintains High Quality While Reducing Radiation
Mary Washington Hospital installed two Philips Ingenuity CT systems in
July. These 128-slice and 64-slice computed tomography systems feature
sophisticated O-MAR and iDose4 image enhancement, advanced technologies
in lower radiation dose imaging.
Minimizing patients’ exposure to radiation is no less important than
acquiring the highest quality images to enable prompt and accurate diagnoses.
Being able to provide low-dose scans, particularly to our pediatric and
young adult populations whose bodies are still developing, is vital to
patient safety and a testament to our ongoing commitment to the Image
Gently® and Image Wisely® campaigns.
In the past, getting effective CT scans in body parts containing metal
implants was an ongoing challenge, but O-MAR technology addresses this
issue by detecting and isolating the effects of metal objects in the image data.
iDose4 enables technicians to adjust the scan’s dose and spatial
resolution to achieve the best image quality, based on each patient’s needs.
These ways of enhancing image quality are seamless to patients and require
no extra scanning time. We’re proud to offer technology that takes
the science of imaging to the next level of safety and excellence.
