Veterans Honored at Life’s End
Did you know that one out of every four Americans who dies is a veteran?
That’s why Mary Washington Hospice’s We Honor Veterans Committee
hosted Veterans Day ceremonies on November 11 at area nursing homes and
assisted living facilities.
Nearly 200 resident veterans received American flag pins, some presented
by current members of the military in uniform, a certificate recognizing
each veteran’s branch of service, and a lap blanket crocheted and
donated by From the Heart Stitchers. Children from our daycare and learning
center, Kids’ Station, also made greeting cards.
It was a moving day filled with patriotic songs and stirring memories.
America’s veterans did whatever was asked of them to serve our country.
We believe it’s never too late to give them a hero’s welcome home.
