At Mary Washington Orthopedics in affiliation with FOA, our highly skilled
physicians and staff bring local expertise to you and your family. Using
state-of-the-art technologies, we deliver treatment that's customized
just for you.
We focus on your specific needs and goals to help you live life with less
discomfort and resume the activities you love. As a multi-specialty orthopedic
practice, we offer medical and surgical treatment for all orthopedic conditions,

Our care extends well beyond the surgical repair of an orthopedic condition.
Our goal is to help you return to normal daily activities as quickly as
possible. To best support your healing and recovery, on-site licensed
physical and occupational therapists work with our providers to complete
comprehensive evaluations and customized treatment programs. Available
in all three of our locations, our physical therapy facilities are complete
with state-of-the-art equipment to meet your needs.

Patricia K. Keenan, PA-C
Patricia graduated with a bachelor’s in biology from the State University
of New York at Cortland. She earned an additional BS from George Washington
University graduating from the physician assistant program in 1997. She
has been specializing in orthopedics for 12 years and primarily works
with Dr. Brian McDermott assisting in all aspects of patient care including
surgical first assist.
Joy R. Riley, MMS, PA-C
Joy received her bachelor’s in health science from Lock Haven University
of Pennsylvania while a member of the LHU Lady Eagles basketball team.
She completed the physician assistant program at Emory University School
of Medicine, where she earned a master’s degree in December of 1991.
She is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of
Physician Assistants. She has a 16 year clinical experience in neurosurgery
and is proficient in adult spine and general orthopedics. She joined FOA
in 2008, working closely with Dr. Accousti, sharing a special interest
in disorders affecting the shoulder.

Nicole Payette, PA-C
Nikki received her bachelor’s degree in sports medicine and health
and exercise science from Guilford College. Nicole was a college athlete
and student athletic trainer while in her undergraduate education. She
went on to complete her master’s degree in physician assistant studies
at Jefferson College of Health Sciences. She works primarily with Dr.
Zijerdi assisting in all clinical aspects including patient care and surgical
assist. She is a member of multiple organizations including the AAPA and VAPA.

Amy W. Vardeman, PA-C
Kim Waters, PA-C
Kim completed her undergraduate studies at University of Richmond, graduating
with a Bachelor's in Healthcare Studies. She earned her Master's in Physician
Assistant studies at Radford University in Roanoke, VA. She is board certified
by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She
is an active member of AAPA and VAPA and volunteers in the community as
an EMT. Kim works closely with Dr. Baqaie and has a special interest in
Brittany Schlund, PA-C
Brittany received her Bachelor's in Biology from Christopher Newport University
while competing as a student athlete. She earned her Master's in physician
assistant studies at Chatham University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She
is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician
Assistants. Brittany has 8 years clinical and surgical experience in orthopedics.
She works closely with Dr. Hashemi in the clinical role and surgical assist,
sharing a special interest in shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand.
