Mary Washington Healthcare Opens Ortho Urgent Care in Fredericksburg

New walk-in facility offers timely care for orthopedic injuries, joint pain and other musculoskeletal concerns

Fredericksburg, Va. (October 19, 2026) – Mary Washington Healthcare opened Mary Washington Ortho Urgent Care today, providing a new walk-in option for patients who need timely evaluation and treatment for orthopedic injuries and musculoskeletal concerns.

Located at 4900 Plank Road, Suite 100, Fredericksburg, Mary Washington Ortho Urgent Care provides specialized care for bone, joint and muscle injuries and conditions without an appointment. Weekdays, after-work and weekend hours make it easier for patients to access orthopedic care when they need it. 

“Musculoskeletal injuries don’t always happen at a convenient time, and patients shouldn’t have to wait days for an appointment when they are experiencing a new injury or sudden pain,” said Christopher Richards, MD, orthopedic surgeon at Mary Washington Healthcare.  “Ortho Urgent Care provides timely access to providers with orthopedic expertise who can evaluate injuries, begin appropriate treatment immediately and coordinate any necessary follow-up care before patients leave the clinic. By streamlining the care process, we can reduce delays and improve access to the specialized orthopedic services patients need to recover and get back to their daily lives.” 

Mary Washington Ortho Urgent Care treats a variety of orthopedic injuries and concerns, including:

• Sprains and strains
• Sports injuries
• Injuries related to falls
• Extremity injuries
• Minor fractures
• Joint pain
• Muscle injuries
• Other bone, joint and muscle conditions requiring timely attention

The facility is intended for orthopedic conditions that need prompt attention but are not life-threatening emergencies. Patients experiencing a life-threatening emergency should call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.

Patients have access to the full Mary Washington Healthcare orthopedic network. Those requiring additional care after their Ortho Urgent Care visit will be scheduled for a priority follow-up appointment with Mary Washington Orthopedics before leaving the clinic, ensuring continuity and coordination of care.
