Mary Washington Healthcare Awarded Grant from The American Cancer Society

Mary Washington Healthcare Awarded Grant from The American Cancer Society

Fredericksburg, VA (October 26, 2021) – Mary Washington Healthcare (MWHC) has received an increase in grant funds by $2,500 for a total of $7,500 from The American Cancer Society.

“We have seen an increasing number of cancer patients needing transportation for their treatments, and this grant allows us to provide that vital community resource which ensures patients receive the care they need,” said Jennifer Reynolds, Director, Oncology and Outpatient Therapeutic Services, MWHC.

Juanita Thompson, Cancer Control Strategic Partnerships Manager, American Cancer Society says, “Cancer patients undergoing treatment frequently require assistance getting to and from facilities, often creating a financial and logistical burden. That’s why the American Cancer Society has awarded a transportation grant to MWHC. These funds will be used to address the unmet transportation needs of patients, particularly vulnerable populations experiencing an unequal burden of cancer in our community.”
