The Core Curriculum Conference Series meets weekly on Monday afternoons with protected time — no new patient admissions are assigned to fellows during conference hours. All sessions are recorded and available in MedHub within 48 hours. Attendance of 80% or greater is required.
The 52-week two-semester curriculum covers all ACGME-required PCCM topics, including mechanical ventilation, sepsis (SSC 2021), ARDS, shock, airway management, pulmonary embolism, ILD, pulmonary hypertension, ECMO, AKI/CRRT, ethics and end-of-life, sleep medicine, lung cancer, lung transplantation, occupational lung disease, toxicology, and ICU pharmacology.
Three protected Scholarly/QI/Sim blocks — one per year — plus a dedicated Scholarly and Advanced Procedures block in PGY-6 give fellows time to complete meaningful work without sacrificing clinical volume.
The Inquiring Minds Conference — held quarterly — is where fellows present research proposals, preliminary data, and evidence syntheses to the full faculty. It is not a formality. It is a formative event.
