Mary Washington Medicare Advantage Earns 4-Star Rating from Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services

October 20, 2021 (Fredericksburg, VA)—Mary Washington Healthcare (MWHC) announced that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) awarded Mary Washington Medicare Advantage with a 4-Star rating. The 4-Star rating is a result of Mary Washington’s commitment to providing plan members access to high-quality healthcare and comprehensive benefits to improve the health of those they serve.

“We started the Mary Washington Medicare Advantage plan to ensure our community has access to high-quality, affordable healthcare services that meet the unique needs of our 65+ community,” says Travis Turner, Senior Vice President and Chief Population Health Officer for MWHC and Mary Washington Health Alliance, LLC. “I attribute this high rating to the unique collaboration between our providers in our network and the members we serve. The commitment to the health of our members is exceptional and only helps our members lead healthier lives.”

Medicare Star Ratings are issued by CMS to rate health plans on a scale of 1-5 Stars with a 5-Star rating as “excellent.” Star Ratings are based on quality and experience outcomes for the previous year. According to CMS, about 52 percent of Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug Plans earned a 4-Star rating or higher for 2020 measures. For more information, please visit the CMS website.

MWHC launched their Mary Washington Medicare Advantage plans in 2019 and began coverage on January 1, 2020. Medicare beneficiaries can use the Star Ratings when researching plan costs, quality, and experience.
