At her heaviest, René was 338 pounds and had just learned she was pre-diabetic, had high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. Her doctor recommended surgical weight loss, so René made an appointment with Dr. Denis Halmi at the Mary Washington Weight Loss Center, and her weight loss journey began.
