Stafford Hospital's New CT Scanners Provide More Timely Care and Crisper Images for Patients

Fredericksburg, Va. (January 24, 2018) – Stafford Hospital recently installed a new Philips Ingenuity 128-slice CT scanner and a Philips Ingenuity 64-slice CT scanner. The new CT scanners feature the latest advances in lower radiation dose imaging and include cutting-edge technology to personalize image quality based on the patients’ needs.

The Philips CT scanners provide great benefits for patients, including radiation dose reduction and CT-assisted guidance for biopsies and therapy treatments. Patients with metal implants, such as a joint replacement, will benefit from improved visualization to assist radiologists with diagnosis.

“The Philips Ingenuity system allows us to maintain our commitment to the Image Gently and Image Wisely campaigns,” stated Dr. George Sofis, Vice President of medical staff at Stafford Hospital. “We are committed to providing our patients with the safest care. Low radiation dose imaging and improved visualization offered by the new Philips CT only assists in improving our service and patient safety.”

In addition to the machines’ state-of-the-art technology, with two CT scanners at Stafford Hospital, the imaging, emergency, and cardiac and interventional radiology departments can provide more timely care to patients and reduce wait times.

“We are already seeing an improved process with having two CT scanners and we are thrilled to expand and meet the needs of our community,” said Cathy Yablonski, Vice President and Administrator of Stafford Hospital.

Stafford Hospital imaging offers same-day CT scans for outpatients with convenient early and late hours to accommodate all schedules. Call 540.741.2000 to schedule your procedure.

The Image Gently Alliance, which focuses on children, and the Image Wisely campaign, which focuses on adult patients, have made significant inroads into the education of radiologists, technologists, referring physicians and the public, with a goal of decreasing unnecessary radiation exposure by improving justification and optimization. That is, when studies are indicated, they should be performed with the lowest radiation exposure that will allow diagnosis. In simple terms: right patient, right exam, at the right time, done the right way.
