Scholarly work is a core part of how we help residents reach their career goals. Whether your interest is clinical research, quality improvement, or case-based scholarship, you will have mentorship, infrastructure, and faculty support to produce work worth presenting.

Over the past three years, our residents have presented or published more than 140 works of scholarly activity at regional and national conferences including:

You will not be figuring this out alone. Our experienced research team guides residents through every step of a project: question development and study design, IRB submission and approval, statistical analysis, and manuscript preparation and publication. Residents also have access to multiple national datasets, including the Epic Cosmos database, allowing large-scale clinical questions to be answered from within a community program.
Mary Washington Healthcare maintains a full Institutional Review Board and an active clinical research program spanning observational studies, medical device trials, and drug trials. Our patients benefit from access to new treatments, devices, and therapies, and our residents train in an environment where research is part of everyday clinical care.
