Mary Washington Healthcare’s Regional Cancer Center Radiation Oncology Earns Re-Accreditation by the American College of Radiology®

Fredericksburg, VA, (January 27, 2026) – Mary Washington Healthcare’s (MWHC) Regional Cancer Center (RCC) Radiation Oncology has been awarded a three-year re-accreditation following a recent review by the American College of Radiology® (ACR®). Radiation oncology, or radiation therapy, uses carefully targeted high-energy radiation to treat cancer—either to cure the disease or to alleviate pain and symptoms for patients.

“This re-accreditation reflects the unwavering commitment and expertise our entire radiation oncology team has to provide safe, precise, and compassionate cancer care,” said Saul Diaz, MBA, PMP, RT(T), Radiation Oncology Manager, MWHC RCC. “This recognition confirms that our clinical practices, technology, and safety standards meet the highest national benchmarks. Most importantly, it reinforces to our patients and families that they can trust us to deliver exceptional care during one of the most difficult times in their lives.”

The ACR® is the nation’s oldest and most widely accepted radiation oncology accrediting body, with more than 700 accredited sites, and 30 years of accreditation experience. The ACR® gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities that meet rigorous, evidence-based Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards established by ACR®. During the accreditation process, board‑ certified radiation oncologists and medical physicists evaluate patient care, treatment planning, safety procedures, equipment adequacy, staff qualifications, quality control, and quality assurance programs. Their findings offer facilities a comprehensive roadmap for continuous improvement.

“We are incredibly proud of our Radiation Oncology team for earning this prestigious reaccreditation,” said Cathy Yablonski, Senior Vice President, and Chief Ambulatory Operations Officer, MWHC. “Their expertise, dedication, and continuous improvement mindset sets the standard for high-quality patient care.
