MWHC Stafford Hospital Nuclear Medicine Receives Accreditation Renewal

Fredericksburg, Va. – Stafford Hospital Nuclear Medicine department received accreditation renewal from the American College of Radiology (ACR) for a period of three years in the areas of Planar, SPECT, and Nuclear Cardiology.

The ACR is the gold standard in medical imaging. Accreditation goes to facilities after a peer-review by board-certified radiologists and medical physicists who are experts in the field.

“We are pleased to have our accreditation renewed following a rigorous review,” says Dr. Neil Green, Vice Chairman, Division of Radiology and Physician Director, Nuclear Medicine and Cardiac Imaging. “This voluntary review process assures our patients that we are meeting nationally-accepted quality standards and that our physicians and technologists are well qualified to perform and interpret medical images and administer radiation therapy treatments.”

The SH Nuclear Medicine department has been an accredited facility by the American College of Radiology since 2011. All Mary Washington Hospital and Stafford Hospital imaging departments demonstrate compliance with the Image Wisely and Image Gently objectives for lowering the amount of radiation used in medically necessary imaging studies and eliminating unnecessary procedures for adult and pediatric patients.
