Dr. Omar Saeed is a board-certified vascular neurologist and stroke specialist with a primary clinical and academic focus on ischemic stroke, cerebrovascular disease, acute stroke treatment, and neuroimaging. He graduated from medical school in Pakistan and subsequently pursued advanced training in neurology and stroke medicine in the United States.
Dr. Saeed completed his Neurology Residency and Vascular Neurology Fellowship at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Following his training, he served as an Associate Professor of Neurology and Vascular Neurologist at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, where he was actively involved in clinical care, medical education, and stroke research.
Dr. Saeed has presented his research at both national and international scientific meetings, including the International Stroke Conference, American Academy of Neurology Annual Meeting, World Stroke Congress, World Masters China Tour, and the Neuro Interventional International Forum. He has also authored and co-authored numerous research abstracts that have been accepted for presentation at major neurology and stroke conferences.
In addition to his work in cerebrovascular disease, Dr. Saeed has contributed to several medical textbooks addressing emerging infectious diseases and global health challenges, including Ebola virus disease, Zika virus infection, dengue fever, and coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Dr. Saeed joined Mary Washington Hospital in 2023 as a Vascular Neurologist and Stroke Medical Director. Since assuming this role, he has led numerous initiatives aimed at improving stroke care delivery, quality metrics, and patient outcomes across the health system. His efforts have focused on enhancing acute stroke workflows, optimizing evidence-based treatment protocols, expanding access to advanced stroke therapies, and strengthening multidisciplinary collaboration among emergency medicine, nursing, radiology, critical care, and rehabilitation teams. Under his leadership, the stroke program has continued to advance its quality performance measures while maintaining a strong commitment to providing timely, comprehensive, and patient-centered stroke care to the surrounding community.
Dr. Saeed’s primary areas of focus revolves around neurological disorders related to blood vessels in the brain, which include diagnosing and managing ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, Transient Ischemic Attacks (TIAs), Thrombolytic Therapy, Vascular Dementia, and preventive care, providing guidance on lifestyle modifications and medications to reduce the risk of vascular events.
