Kirk Schlafer, MD,FACS

Dr. Schlafer is a board-certified general surgeon with over 21 years’ experience delivering clinical care across diverse hospitals, surgery centers, and rural settings throughout a military service career, and beyond. His reputation for establishing genuine, highly personal rapport with patients and their families has earned him multiple service delivery awards recognizing outstanding bedside manner, provision of compassionate care, and commitment to earning patient trust.

He offers extensive experience leading medical executive teams, developing effective patient safety and quality solutions, and teaching within a variety of graduate medical education programs.

Over the course of his profession Dr. Schlafer has been entrusted to perform thousands of wide-ranging surgical procedures for pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations, including emergency, elective, and non-operative cases within general surgery, oncology, trauma, urology, obstetric, and gynecological departments.

He has served as Chief of the Medical Staff at the U.S. military’s most far forward-deployed medical treatment facility in the world. He volunteers for medical and humanitarian outreach missions, both at home and abroad.
