J. Emilio Exaire, MD
Jose E. Exaire, MD, is an interventional cardiologist at Mary Washington Cardiology. He brings extensive experience in coronary, peripheral, and carotid interventions, with a career spanning academic medicine, catheterization laboratory leadership, and fellowship training program direction.
Dr. Exaire previously served as Senior Associate Consultant in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine and Director of the Catheterization Laboratory at Mayo Clinic Health System–La Crosse, Associate Professor of Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University, and Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, where he directed the cardiac care unit at the VA Medical Center.
He joined the medical staff at Mary Washington Hospital and Stafford Hospital in August 2025.

Dr. Exaire is amazing, knowledgeable, professional, warm, caring. I would and have recommended him to other heart patients. His office manager, Allison is a perfect fit for this office and is always lovely, professional, and helpful. Allison is also a fantastic problem solver. She helped me with a complex and troubling issue regarding my medical records, not only solving the problem but taking measures to ensure it couldn't happen again! I can't say enough about this care team. Please do all you can to keep these amazing people! I don't like to think of having to do life without them!
