Frederick L. Stephens II, MD
Dr. Stephens is a board-certified neurosurgeon with over two decades of distinguished service in military medicine. He previously served as Staff Neurosurgeon and Director of Neurosurgery Tele-health at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
Prior to that, Dr. Stephens led as Neurosurgery Service Chief at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. He completed his fellowship in Neurotrauma Critical Care at the University of California, San Francisco under Dr. Geoffrey T. Manley, and his neurosurgical residency through the National Capital Consortium at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the National Naval Medical Center.
His academic foundation includes a Doctor of Medicine from the Drexel University Hahnemann College of Medicine and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from UCLA.
Dr. Stephens has held several key military medical roles, including Deputy Neurosurgery Consultant to the Army Surgeon General and Theatre Neurosurgeon in Baghdad, Iraq. His clinical and research expertise spans traumatic brain injury, cranioplasty, and spinal biomechanics, with multiple peer-reviewed publications and contributions to neurosurgical textbooks.
He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurologic Surgeons, and holds medical licenses in Indiana, Illinois, California, and Washington. His leadership in tele-health and battlefield neurosurgery continues to shape the future of military neurological care.
