Momina Mazhar, MD,FAAD

Dr. Mazhar is board-certified dermatologist with a distinguished academic and clinical background. She completed her Doctor of Medicine degree with distinction from The George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences, where she also served as the President of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology.

Dr, Mazhar earned her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences, magna cum laude, from the University of Maryland, College Park, where he also pursued a minor in International Development and Conflict Management. Her post-graduate training includes a preliminary internship at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, followed by her dermatology residency at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas.

Dr. Mazhar’s training focuses on dermatologic surgery, procedural dermatology, and complex medical dermatology, with extensive experience in biologic treatments for conditions like dermatomyositis, lupus, and scleroderma.

Dr. Mazhar has made significant contributions to dermatologic research, particularly in the areas of skin pigmentation and Staphylococcus aureus-induced allergic responses. She completed a research fellowship at Johns Hopkins University, investigating IL-36 cytokine roles in atopic dermatitis, and has co-authored several high-impact publications in prominent journals such as JCI Insight and The Journal of Clinical Investigation.

Her research has been presented at national conferences, and she has also published work on the therapeutic potential of dupilumab in treating atopic dermatitis. In addition to her research, Dr. Mazhar has participated in various other academic projects, including independent research in Jordan and internships focused on molecular biology and infectious diseases. Her academic and clinical expertise, combined with a strong research background, underscore her commitment to advancing the field of dermatology.

In her free time, Dr. Mazhar enjoys yoga, spending time with her son, and exploring new restaurants and foods.
