Dr. Helmly wanted to study medicine from an early age. While running Division 1 Cross Country and Track and Field at the University of Florida, she graduated with a degree in Biology. She attended Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, VA, and then went on to complete her residency in Family Medicine at East Tennessee State University in Bristol, TN.
Dr. Helmly is board certified in Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment. After graduating residency, she took her love for teaching into a career in academic medicine by joining the faculty at ETSU Bristol, where she stayed for four years. She became the Director of Osteopathic Education, Associate Program Director and then Program Director for the residency program before moving to Fredericksburg, VA in April of 2022 with her family.
In her free time she enjoys running, traveling, cooking, baking, and spending time with her two daughters and husband.

Dr. Helmly is simply the best. I thoroughly look forward to our visits. And I appreciate her professionalism along with her caring manner toward her patients. She is a keeper...in my opinion.

Dr. Helmly is always attentive, professional and caring. She listens to everything I say and spends plenty of time addressing all of my concerns. I am always extremely satisfied my visits with her.

Very happy with the care I get from everyone in this office. Check in / out very helpful and efficient, the nurse show does the "in processing" is attentive and thorough and I especially appreciate that Dr Helmly listens to me! I have already suggested this office to a friend. He too, is happy with the care he recieves.
