Kamilla Esfahani, MD, is a core faculty member of the Anesthesiology Residency Program at Mary Washington Healthcare. Dr. Esfahani received her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed her residency training in Anesthesiology and her fellowship training in Neuroanesthesiology at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. Board-certified in Anesthesiology, she has clinical interests in safe opioid practices, blood conservation in major spine surgery, and pain management in neurosurgery.
Dr. Esfahani is actively involved in medical education, teaching, and mentoring residents, with a focus on simulation education and leadership development. She also participates in scholarly activity and has contributed to research in areas such as blood conservation and methadone use in spine surgery.
In addition to clinical and academic responsibilities, Dr. Esfahani serves on the Clinical Competency Committee and holds leadership roles such as Director of Simulation Education for the Department of Anesthesiology. She is also an active member of professional organizations like the Virginia Society of Anesthesiology, American Society of Anesthesiology, Women in Anesthesiology and Society for Neuroscience in Anesthesiology and Critical Care (SNACC), where she is the Chair of the Neuroanesthesia Classroom, Trainee Engagement Committee.
Outside of work, Dr. Esfahani lives in Fredericksburg with her family and two dogs. She is an avid traveler, enjoys reading, outdoor adventures, the theatre, and anything to do with dogs.
