Hiwot Mengiste, MD
Hiwot Mengiste, MD, is a board-certified physician in Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and Internal Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Howard University Hospital, followed by fellowship training in Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine at the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, where she served as Chief Fellow for two years.
Dr. Mengiste cares for patients with a wide range of respiratory and critical illnesses, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, pneumonia, bronchitis, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, and sarcoidosis. She is experienced in advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS), transbronchial and endobronchial biopsies, thoracentesis, and other pleural procedures.
She is an active member of the American Thoracic Society and the American College of Chest Physicians and is committed to ongoing professional development and staying current with emerging research and innovations in pulmonary and critical care medicine.

I was early to my 10:00 am visit. I waited for 45 minutes in the waiting room. Then I didn't leave the office until 11:05. Way too long for a follow up.

The receptionist welcome me. She handed me a form to complete. Before I had even completed my form, RN Mickey walked in and led me to Dr. Hiwot Mengiste's office area. She weighed me and took my BP. She asked me routine questions before Dr. Hiwot Mengiste came in. They were both very friendly. Dr. Mengiste has scheduled a pulmonary test for me.
