Elizabeth Canfield is a board-certified Physician Assistant with a passion for caring for patients with gastrointestinal (GI) conditions. She earned her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the Medical University of South Carolina, graduating Summa Cum Laude. She completed broad clinical training across emergency medicine, general surgery, pediatrics, internal medicine, family medicine, psychiatry, and orthopedic surgery—experience that gives her a well‑rounded perspective when evaluating GI concerns.
She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition, Food, and Exercise from Virginia Tech, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude and built a strong foundation in evidence‑based nutrition to support patients living with IBD and complex GI disorders.
She has additional hands‑on experience in sports medicine with Virginia Tech Football, which sharpened her skills in injury prevention, rehabilitation, and collaborative care. Elizabeth maintains current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and CPR certifications through the American Heart Association.
Outside the clinic, Elizabeth loves anything outdoors—running, hiking, and working out—and she enjoys winding down by baking for family and friends. Her goal with every visit is simple: listen carefully, explain clearly, and partner with you on a plan that fits your life and helps you feel your best.
