Cornell Shelton, MD

Dr. Cornell Shelton has been providing wound care services for over fifteen years. Starting in residency at Schwab Rehabilitation University of Chicago, he performed wound services at the bedside and has always been involved providing inpatient wound care at acute rehabilitation facilities and skilled nursing homes. With a background in physical medicine, his concern about how to heal the wound beyond the wound bed is one of his primary goals and often advises his patients about specialty beds, wheelchair cushions, nutrition, vascular status, blood sugar control and so much more so that wounds are healed and patients return to a healthier state.

Dr. Shelton received a degree in Chemistry from Morehouse College and a doctor of medicine from Howard University College of Medicine. After an internship in General Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital, he completed a residency and a fellowship in physical medicine, rehabilitation, sports medicine and pain management. He is wound care certified with the National Alliance of Wound Care and Healogics.
