Anita Akhtar, MD is a dedicated and board-certified rheumatologist and internist who brings over a decade of clinical experience to her patients. With a strong foundation in internal medicine and specialized training in rheumatology, Dr. Akhtar is passionate about delivering personalized, evidence-based care to individuals living with autoimmune and musculoskeletal conditions.
She earned her medical degree from Rawalpindi Medical College in Pakistan, followed by a residency in Internal Medicine at Harlem Hospital in New York City, where she developed a deep commitment to patient-centered care in diverse communities. Dr. Akhtar further honed her expertise during her Rheumatology Fellowship at West Virginia University, where she trained in advanced diagnostic and therapeutic techniques, including musculoskeletal ultrasound (USSONAR certified).
Dr. Akhtar is known for her thoughtful approach, clear communication, and dedication to improving her patients’ quality of life. All my visits with this office have been very positive, in and out quickly but never rushed, always treated respectfully and professionally. (Just wish I could relocate the entire office closer to my address)

The nurse was very helpful and respectful. The doctor was one of the best I've ever seen. She listened, shared a ton of information, was patient, and an excellent communicator. I felt heard and was educated about my concerns.
