Welcome, and thank you for your interest in the Psychiatry Residency Program at Mary Washington Healthcare.
We are excited to offer a residency experience that combines excellent clinical training with a supportive, close-knit learning environment. Our goal is to train thoughtful, compassionate, and highly skilled psychiatrists who are prepared to care for diverse patient populations across a wide range of clinical settings while developing their own professional identity and interests.
A cornerstone of our program is training at Snowden at Fredericksburg, our state-of-the-art behavioral health hospital serving both adolescents and adults. Residents gain broad clinical exposure across inpatient, Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), and outpatient settings, all within a dynamic environment that emphasizes compassionate, patient-centered care. Residents work closely with dedicated faculty who are deeply invested in teaching and mentorship, creating an atmosphere where trainees can grow with confidence.
Our program places strong emphasis on psychotherapy training, interdisciplinary experiences, resident wellness, and longitudinal mentorship throughout all four years of residency. As a smaller program, we are able to know our residents personally, support their professional growth, and tailor mentorship to their individual goals.
At Mary Washington Healthcare, we believe psychiatry is both a science and an art grounded in evidence and strengthened through meaningful human connection. We are proud of the program we are building and excited to welcome residents who are curious, collaborative, and committed to caring for others.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our program. We would be honored to be part of your training journey.
