
Alex Akman, MD, MS, was born and raised in Chevy Chase, Maryland. He earned his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed his undergraduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis, where he double-majored in biology and anthropology. He also holds a Master of Science in physiology and biophysics from Georgetown University. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking (and eating), gardening, DIY projects, cheering on the Commanders and Capitals, and spending time with his wife, Erin, and their new baby.
Ahmad Alach, MD, was born in Philadelphia and raised in Alexandria, Virginia. He earned his medical degree from the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine and completed his undergraduate studies in bioengineering at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. In his spare time, he enjoys playing basketball, hiking, and reading. He’s also an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan—Go Birds!
Yavin Alwis, MD, was born in Salem, Oregon, and spent his childhood in Brentwood, near Nashville, Tennessee. He earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine and completed his undergraduate studies at Rhodes College in Memphis, where he majored in neuroscience and minored in computer science. In his spare time, he enjoys indoor rock climbing, tennis, golf, and playing video games.
Travis Byrum, MD, was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. He earned his medical degree from the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth and completed his undergraduate studies in statistics at Duke University in Durham. In his spare time, he enjoys playing sports, cooking, and music.
Areej Nasr Ennasr, MD, was born in Jordan and raised in Palestine. She earned her medical degree from the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and completed her undergraduate studies in biomedical engineering with a minor in religious studies at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. In her spare time, she enjoys dabke, scrapbooking (junk journaling), weight lifting, and taking mental health walks. She’s also very food motivated and always on the lookout for something delicious.
AJ Frederick, MD, was born and raised in Jacksboro, Tennessee. He earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine and completed his undergraduate studies in biochemistry and cellular and molecular biology at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. In his spare time, he enjoys weightlifting, cooking, and playing soccer.
David Ha, MD, was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea. He earned his medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences and completed his undergraduate studies in applied mathematics at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. In his spare time, he enjoys trying different flavors of ice cream at Moo Thru, playing golf on Virginia’s scenic courses, watching Tottenham Hotspur matches, and cooking Korean BBQ at home.
Jessica Nguyen, MD, was born and raised in Northern Virginia. She earned her medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine and completed her undergraduate studies in biomedical engineering at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. In her spare time, she enjoys powerlifting, cooking—especially experimenting with protein-packed baked goods and exploring Asian cuisine—sewing, thrifting, and camping.
Shikha Trivedi, MD, was born and raised in Danville, Virginia. She earned her medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School at Old Dominion University and completed her undergraduate studies in sociology at the University of Virginia. She also holds a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences from EVMS. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, painting, cooking, decorating, going to concerts, traveling, and playing with her dogs. She’s known for her sense of humor and isn’t afraid to throw in a dad joke or pun when the moment’s right!
Niki Tselepidakis, MD, was born and raised in Hanover, New Hampshire. She earned her medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine and completed her undergraduate studies at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, where she majored in biomedical engineering and Spanish. In her spare time, she enjoys Latin dancing, running, playing pickleball, reading, and playing the piano.
Madeleine Wilson, MD, was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She earned her medical degree from Nova Southeastern University Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine and completed her undergraduate studies at Butler University in Indianapolis, where she majored in chemistry and neuroscience and minored in French. In her spare time, she enjoys running, weightlifting, reading, trying new restaurants, and spending time with her cat, Reagan.
