Welcome from the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program Director
Dear Colleagues and Prospective Fellows,
It is with great excitement and pride that I announce the launch of the first-ever Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program at Mary Washington Hospital, recently approved by the ACGME. This represents a significant milestone for our institution and a remarkable opportunity for the future leaders of cardiovascular medicine. Beginning in July 2026, our inaugural class will include three PGY-1 fellows, to grow incrementally to a total of nine fellows over the next three years.
Mary Washington Healthcare is a regional referral center serving Northern Virginia, located halfway between Washington, DC and Richmond, Virginia, with a diverse patient population and a geography that ranges from rural to urban. Mary Washington Hospital is a 471-bed tertiary care center. Fellows will gain exceptional exposure to both inpatient and critical care cardiology as well as ambulatory cardiovascular management. Our program is uniquely positioned to offer hands-on experience with a wide array of advanced diagnostic and therapeutic modalities. Fellows will train with cutting-edge technologies including transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography (TEE), cardiac CT, and cardiac MRI. In addition, our fellows will develop expertise in invasive and exposed to interventional procedures for coronary artery disease, structural heart disease, peripheral vascular disease, pacemaker, intracardiac defibrillators, and ablation procedures. The curriculum is designed to ensure mastery of the comprehensive spectrum of contemporary cardiology. Equally important, our fellows will receive individualized mentorship from a highly experienced and passionate team of faculty. Our faculty is deeply committed to fostering both clinical excellence and academic growth in a supportive learning environment. Our diverse faculty will inspire you with their areas of special interest so that you can learn about anything within cardiovascular medicine that you may want to consider.
