Dr. Richards is a fellowship-trained sports medicine physician, specializing
in minimally invasive and open treatment of knee and shoulder injuries.
He completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Cooper University Hospital
in Camden, NJ. After residency, Dr. Richards chose to complete a fellowship
in sports medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine
in Philadelphia, PA. During his fellowship training, he gained an expertise
in cartilage restoration, hip arthroscopy, pediatric sports medicine,
multi-ligamentous knee injuries, and other complex sports medicine procedures.
Dr. Richards is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons
and American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. He also has a Master
of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Biomedical
Engineering (musculoskeletal modeling). Dr. Richards enjoys golf, basketball,
snowboarding and water sports. He has three children and resides in Fredericksburg
with his wife, Lauren.
