Xavier R. Richardson, a native of Fredericksburg, joined Mary Washington
Healthcare in September 1997 and currently serves as the executive vice
president, Corporate Development and Community Affairs, for Mary Washington.
In this capacity, he also serves as president of Mary Washington Hospital
and Stafford Hospital Foundations.
Mr. Richardson, a 1975 graduate of James Monroe High School, holds a Master
of Business Administration from the Harvard Business School where he was
awarded the General Motors Fellowship for second-year studies. He has
a Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University, where he graduated
magna cum laude and was a National Achievement Scholar. He is also the
recipient of an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Saint Paul’s College.
As executive vice president for Corporate Development and Community Affairs,
Mr. Richardson is responsible for managing fundraising, assisting with
grant-making efforts for community organizations, community benefit programs
and services, legislative and community affairs, and long-term strategic
development of all programs within this division. He oversees the Mary
Washington Hospital Foundation, Stafford Hospital Foundation and Mary
Washington Healthcare Community Programs and continues to develop legislative affairs.
Prior to joining Mary Washington Healthcare, Mr. Richardson served as an
assistant director of the U.S. General Accounting Office in Washington,
D.C. His responsibilities there included identifying issues, events and
trends to be evaluated for financial markets and federal human resource
management. He also served on the staff of the U.S. Senate Governmental
Affairs Committee to examine campaign finance reform issues and managed
the Combined Federal Campaign for three federal agencies, a fundraising
project that raised more than $1 million in contributions.
