Elizabeth Wheatley, DNP,FNP-BC,PMHNP-BC

Dr. Wheatley has over 38 years experience in healthcare and has nurse practitioner practice experience in family practice as well as in psychiatric care. She earned a Bachelors Degree from Florida State University and a Masters in Human Relations from Liberty University. She has also earned a Masters in Nursing and Post Masters certificate from the University of Virginia. She is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and Family Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner through American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). She further earned her Doctor of Nursing degree from University of South Alabama with a doctoral project entitled “Assessment for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD): Diagnosis, Interventions, and Length of Stay Quality Improvement Initiative.”

Dr. Wheatley’s mental health practice includes an interest in individual experience and impact of trauma as well as religious education and support services related to trauma impact and support. Her practice philosophy is a partnership with patients from a holistic perspective. This includes medical, psychosocial, and spiritual elements as needed by individual patients.

Professional memberships include: Sigma Theta Tau, Beta Kappa Chapter; American Association of Nurse Practitioners; Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners; and International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies.

Outside her nurse practitioner responsibilities, she enjoys time with her family, gardening, fishing, and assorted creative activities.
