Our Services

Cosmetic Surgery

  • Liposuction

Liposuction can be used to slim or reshape certain parts of the body by removing excess body fat. Typically performed by a plastic surgeon, the treatment uses suction to surgically remove fat deposits and is often done in combination with other treatments such tummy tuck, face lift or breast reduction.

  • Abdominoplasty

Abdominal wall surgery improves the appearance of flabby, stretched-out abdominal (belly) muscles and skin. Often called a tummy tuck abdominoplasty can range from a simple to more complicated extensive surgery. Abdominal wall surgery is not the same as liposuction with another way to remove fat. Two procedures are often done in combination.

  • Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation uses implants or fat to increase breast size or restore breast volume. This procedure may also be done following mastectomy or injury. This procedure is sometimes done in conjunction with a breast lift to address drooping or sagging.

  • Breast Reduction / Lift

A breast lift, or mastopexy, is cosmetic breast surgery to lift the breasts. The surgery may also involve changing the position of the areola and nipple.

  • Blepharoplasty

Removing excess skin, bulging fat or lax muscles from the upper eyelids can help you achieve a more youthful look. Eyelid lift surgery, called blepharoplasty, can also improve the visual field.

  • Face Lift

A facelift improves visual signs of aging by surgically repairing sagging, drooping, and wrinkled skin of the face and neck.

  • Rhinoplasty

Repair or reshaping of the nose is called rhinoplasty. It is used to enhance structural harmony and the proportions of the nose as well as to correct impaired breathing caused by structural defects. This procedure can be performed under local or general anesthesia depending on the exact procedure and the patient's preference. It is performed in a surgeon's office, a hospital, or an outpatient surgery center. Complex procedures may require a short hospital stay. The procedure usually takes 1 to 2 hours but could take longer.

  • Body Contouring

After major weight loss, surgical body contouring can remove excess fat and skin while improving the underlying support tissue to create smoother contours.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who seeks cosmetic surgery?

In spite of popular belief, people who seek cosmetic surgery here in the Fredericksburg area and around the country are real people just like you. In fact, it’s almost certain that people you know have had the assistance of plastic surgeon like Dr. Arora to help them enhance their appearance creating a more confident self.

What type of Advanced Treatments do you offer?

We perform the full spectrum of plastic surgery including reconstructive and cosmetic surgery, post-bariatric body contouring surgery, hand surgery, facio-ancillary as well as soft tissue trauma surgery, and wound management. Additionally, we perform non-surgical cosmetic procedures including Botox, Restylane, soft tissue fillers and provide laser services and skin care.

Patients may choose from the most advanced treatment options for patients from routinely simple to medically complex. Dr. Balvant Arora’s vast surgical expertise, combined with the resources of Mary Washington Hospital and comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach distinguishes us form other plastic and reconstructive surgery practices.

What are Wrinkle Fillers?

Wrinkle fillers, also known as tissue fillers, are becoming increasingly popular. These injectable gels are made from a variety of different products and placed under the skin to smooth away wrinkles and folds that occur as aging changes your skin by reducing production of hyaluronic acid (HA). Based on your age, skin-type and the areas you’d like to address, Dr. Arora can help you select the product that will give you the results you want.

Can you cure my rosacea?

While there is no cure for rosacea, innovations in dermatology have led to treatments that can prevent and reduce the acne-like breakouts, reduce redness and the number of flareups. In addition, dermatologists can remove the thickening skin that appears on the bridge of the nose and other parts of the face using laser surgery, dermabrasion or electrocautery. See Dr. Arora for a consultation and recommendation on how to best control your rosacea symptoms.

How do I choose the right plastic surgeon?

Choose with caution as any licensed doctor can call him or herself a cosmetic surgeon. To assure that you are dealing with a properly trained and certified plastic surgeon, check to see if your prospective doctor is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Evidence of additional training and fellowships in plastic surgery add to the experience and expertise you can expect. Always request a consult meeting to sit down and talk about your goals. The surgeon should ask for your input, answer all of your questions thoroughly as well as clearly provide you with information about the risks of any proposed procedures. Many surgeons will provide options of treatments and approaches. You should never feel pressured into any procedures-the final decision always rests with you.

Why are light/laser procedures growing in popularity?

Innovations in laser and pulsed light technology are making these non-invasive procedures popular choices for skin resurfacing, skin rejuvenation, treating and removing scars and other blemishes as well as vein and permanent hair removal. Most procedures can be performed on all skin types with minimal to no downtime.

What are the most popular products used for breast implants?

Breast implants are typically filled with saline or silicone.

Saline implants, which are shells filled with sterile salt water, provide a uniform shape and firmness. This solution is FDA approved for use in women ages 18 and up. Should a leak occur in the implant shell, the saline solution is safely absorbed and expelled naturally by the body. Regular checks with ultrasound or MRI can assure that the implants are functioning properly.

Silicone gel feels a little more like natural breast material. Unlike a saline implant, a leaking silicone gel implant will not collapse. Regular checks, performed with ultrasound or MRI, help assure that the implants are functioning properly. The silicone gel implant is FDA approved for breast augmentation in women ages 22 and up.

How can I achieve the best look on my budget?

Consider the value of speaking to a dermatological or plastic surgery professional who has done the research and performed thousands of procedures when creating your skin care and treatment plan. Our professionals will listen to your goals and help you prioritize to achieve your optimum look by using your resources wisely where they will have the most impact.
