This national award recognizes performance and quality improvements in healthcare
Modern Healthcare’s Spirit of Excellence program spotlights creative and innovative programs that support organizational excellence, patient satisfaction, customer service, employee satisfaction, commitment, and community participation. Mary Washington Hospital was recognized for their processes and quality improvements in stroke care, prevention and community education.
Over the past couple of years, the Stroke Team has worked hard to follow the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association’s guidelines in an effort to become a certified Primary Stroke Center. In working towards that designation and having a commitment to provide the best possible care to area stroke victims, the Stroke Team trained 300 emergency department staff on stroke care and have significantly reduced drug administering times. Wait times for lab and CT imaging results have also greatly decreased.
