How do I know if I am eligible for Mary Washington Hospital Home Health services? A physician's order is required so that we can conduct a comprehensive assessment, called a skilled need assessment. The clinician performing this assessment will determine if you qualify for services. Homebound status may be required by insurance for home health services.
What does homebound mean? Homebound means that leaving home requires considerable and taxing effort and usually requires the assistance of a device or another person. Most insurance allows absences from the home for short and infrequent circumstances. These will be defined in the comprehensive assessment visit.
How long can I receive services? The frequency and duration of care will be determined during the comprehensive assessment visit and will be updated throughout your care based on your progress. The clinician will make the schedule of care in consultation with you, your caregivers and your physician.
