Breast Cancer Services

The Mary Washington Regional Cancer Center offers a comprehensive approach to coordinating screening, diagnosis, and treatment of breast cancer.  A multidisciplinary team of cancer specialists work together to provide individualized care plans for our patients. Our comprehensive program includes:

  • Assessment and evaluation of breast abnormalities such as pain/tenderness, lumps, skin changes, or nipple discharge
  • Abnormal Mammogram studies
  • Breast biopsies, surgery

Gastrointestinal (GI) Cancer Services

We offer expertise in treating gastrointestinal cancers including  stomach, pancreas, gallbladder, colon, rectum, anus and liver. Services include screening, diagnosis, and treatment.  A multidisciplinary team of cancer specialists work together to provide individualized care plans for our patients.  Our comprehensive program includes:

  • Colonoscopy and virtual colonoscopy

GI cancer specialists:

Genitourinary (GU) Cancer Services

Our team of board-certified urologists offers expertise in urologic oncology for men and women including screening, diagnosis, and treatment of kidney, bladder, prostate, testicular, and all genital cancers. We have special expertise in treating prostate cancer with our Da Vinci Robotic Surgery Program and offer advanced laparascopic care for all GU cancers.  A multidisciplinary team of cancer specialists work together to provide individualized care plans for our patients.  Our comprehensive program includes:

  • Radiation, including brachytherapy for prostate cancer
  • Chemotherapy, including intravesical for bladder cancer
  • Pelvic floor rehabilitation program

Hematologic Malignancy

Hematologic malignancies are types of cancer that affect blood, bone marrow, and lymph nodes. They are considered to be related cancers because they involve cells with similar functions and origins. The diseases result from an acquired genetic injury to the DNA of a single cell which becomes abnormal and multiplies abnormally.

We feature a comprehensive, coordinated approach to screening, diagnosis, and treatment of hematologic cancers including multiple myeloma, acute myeloid leukemia, chronic myelogenous leukemia, hodgkin lymphoma, non-hodgkin’s lymphoma and myelodysplastic syndromes. There are various approaches to treatment of hematologic cancers. Our cancer care specialists will provide you with the most up-to-date options. We offer a Cancer Navigator Program to guide and support cancer patients from diagnosis to treatment to survivorship. This service is confidential and without cost.

Thoracic Cancer Services

We offer expertise in lung cancer, esophageal cancer, chest wall tumors and tumors of the mediastinum. We feature a dedicated, Johns Hopkins-trained thoracic surgeon who is skilled in general and thoracic surgery, including state-of-the-art, minimally invasive video-assisted thorascopic surgery (VATS). A multidisciplinary team of cancer specialists work together to provide individualized care plans for our patients.  Our comprehensive program includes:
