The Mary Washington Hospital Community Service Fund was established in 1993 as a way to address a wide range of health issues. The Fund provides grants to local nonprofit organizations twice a year. Our history of grant funding to date totals more than $9 million. The Stafford Hospital Community Service Fund was established in 2007 by the Stafford Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees as a way to provide financial support to nonprofit organizations addressing health issues in Stafford County. The Stafford Hospital Community Service Fund has awarded over $200,000 in grant funding. Both Mary Washington Hospital and Stafford Hospital Community Service Funds assist nonprofit organizations that are improving access to care among the medically underserved, as well as organizations that focus on wellness, health education and prevention. This cooperation avoids duplicating services and ensures the best use of limited healthcare dollars. Some recipients are also partners with Mary Washington Healthcare. Mission The mission of each Fund is to provide financial resources to organizations that improve the community's general health status, contain growing healthcare costs, or to improve access for the poor and other medically underserved people.
