Ms. Bedway holds a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Ohio State University and a Masters in Public Administration and Policy from Virginia Tech. Ms. Bedway joined Mary Washington Healthcare in 1988 and has held several positions prior to her current role such as nurse manager of Nursing Support Services, director of Service Excellence, director of Emergency Services and most recently Vice President of Clinical Support for Mary Washington Hospital.

She was promoted to senior vice president and chief nursing officer in 2011. Ms. Bedway received the 2005 Governor's Award for the Nurse with Outstanding Contribution to Emergency Medical Services in November 2005.
