Senior Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer Ms. Kane is a registered nurse with 46 years of nursing experience, with a BSN from George Mason University, a Master of Business Administration from Averett University and ANCC Certification in Nursing Administration, Advanced. She started at Mary Washington Healthcare in 1972 as an emergency department nurse and accepted opportunities and leadership positions, including director-level positions in all nursing care centers. In 2006, Ms. Kane was appointed Mary Washington Healthcare chief nursing officer and is accountable for nursing in all entities. Ms. Kane is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, American Nurses Association, The American Organization of Nurse Executives, Virginia Nurses Association and Virginia Organization of Nurse Executives. She is a charter board member of the Fredericksburg Area Regional Health Council (Moss Free Clinic). She was the recipient of the 2006 Regional Award for Nurse with Outstanding Contribution to EMS by the Rappahannock Emergency Medical Services Council board of directors. In 2007, Barbara received a Girl Scout Commonwealth Council's Annual Women of Distinction Award. |
